Some weddings feel relaxed from the moment you walk in, and James and Patrick’s Trafalgar Tavern wedding celebration was exactly that. With everything happening in one iconic Greenwich venue – the ceremony, reception, and evening party – the day flowed effortlessly. No travel, no stress, just celebration.

As their Trafalgar Tavern wedding photographer, it was brilliant to capture a day where everyone stayed fully present. The venue’s historic charm, Thames-side views, and the character of the Nelson Room created the perfect backdrop for a stylish and modern same-sex wedding. The stunning floral arrangements from Harlequin Florals (Insta profile here) added colour, elegance, and personality throughout the venue, tying everything together beautifully.
A Ceremony Full of Emotion
The ceremony took place upstairs in the Nelson Room, surrounded by family and friends. The atmosphere was a mix of laughter, nerves, and genuine emotion – the kind you can’t script. When James and Patrick saw each other for the first time, the room shifted into something quietly powerful. You could see pride, love, and connection written across every face.
Relaxed Drinks, River Views, and Time to Breathe
After the ceremony, drinks were served overlooking the Thames. One of the great benefits of a Trafalgar Tavern wedding is how easy everything feels – no transport, no rush, just time to enjoy the day. The riverside portraits were relaxed and natural, giving the couple a moment of quiet together before the pace picked up again.
Speeches, Laughter, Music and Movement
Dinner and speeches brought the perfect balance of heartfelt storytelling and laugh-out-loud moments. As soon as the formalities were done, the atmosphere shifted from elegant to energetic – with DJ Keren from SpinSisters (Insta profile here) taking over and instantly filling the dancefloor.

Alongside capturing all the action, I also ran my “In The Box” pop-up photoshoot, giving guests the chance to create fun, playful portraits throughout the night. Some guests were so committed to the dancing they didn’t even make it into the box – but honestly, no regrets. The energy never dipped, not for a second.
A Perfect LGBTQ+ Wedding Venue in Greenwich
The Trafalgar Tavern offers character, beauty, and the advantage of having the entire day in one place. For James and Patrick, it meant a relaxed flow, happy guests, and space for the day to unfold naturally.
If you’re planning a same-sex or LGBTQ+ wedding in Greenwich and want photography that’s relaxed, real, and full of personality – not stiff posing – I’d love to chat.
