WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...
I was born in a small coal-mining town in County Durham, which, fun fact, is where Billy Elliot was filmed. So yeah, while other kids were dreaming of being superheroes, I was secretly plotting my escape, thinking, I’m going to be a big deal… someday.
As a kid, I was all about being arty. My parents had no idea what I was doing, but they loved that I was keeping busy (and not setting the kitchen on fire… too often). But instead of taking a direct route to creative greatness, I ended up taking the scenic route via Cambridge, where I worked as a Tesco Delivery driver (which basically meant I became a part-time therapist, accidental dog magnet, and once handed over a weekly food shop to a bloke wearing nothing but a feather boa and Crocs – while giving me a full rundown of his Clubcard points. True story). Oh, and I also studied Audio Technology. Yeah, you read that right… a degree in audio tech. That degree has never once helped me as a London wedding photographer, but hey, it made me sound impressive at dinner parties.
I swapped my grocery delivery uniform for a suit and became a software trainer. But then, plot twist: in 2020 – yes, the year of global chaos – I had a full-on crisis and thought, this is not my life. So I ditched the whole tech thing, grabbed a camera, and started doing something I actually loved. No regrets. And, spoiler alert: becoming a London wedding photographer turned out to be the best decision I ever made.
