Islington Town Hall | Aimee & Jake
A surprise bus arrival at Islington Town Hall before heading to Greenwich for the reception.

Aimee & Jake’s Islington Town Hall Wedding – A Surprise Arrival
Aimee & Jake’s Islington Town Hall wedding started with one of the best arrivals I’ve photographed. Their guests travelled together by bus, building anticipation before pulling up outside the Town Hall - and the reactions were priceless. Confusion, laughter, sudden realisation… and then straight into celebration mode.
That energy carried through the ceremony itself. It was warm, relaxed and properly joyful. No stiffness, no overthinking - just two people surrounded by friends who were fully present.
Islington Town Hall works brilliantly for weddings like this. Everything is close together, the ceremony rooms feel intimate rather than overwhelming, and once you step outside you’re instantly in the middle of North London life.
If you’re planning your own ceremony here, you can find timing tips and practical advice on my Islington Town Hall wedding photographer page. And if you’re exploring other venues locally, my Islington wedding photographer guide covers more North London celebrations.

The Ceremony at Islington Town Hall
Ceremonies here tend to run to schedule, but that doesn’t mean they feel rushed. The key is keeping things simple.
For couples who want something simple but meaningful, it strikes a good balance between structure and atmosphere.
After the vows, we headed straight outside for hugs, confetti and those slightly chaotic just-married moments that never need staging. A quick portrait wander nearby - nothing dramatic, just natural movement and conversation - and then it was time to head across London for the second half of the day.
The Celebration at The Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich
From North London registry energy to riverside Greenwich - the shift in atmosphere was perfect.
Before dinner at The Trafalgar Tavern, we took a short walk along the Thames. The light was soft, the river calm, and the Old Royal Naval College provided that unmistakable London backdrop without feeling forced. No elaborate posing, just a relaxed wander and a handful of portraits that actually felt like them.
With the Thames stretching out behind them and the Cutty Sark just along the river, it felt distinctly London without feeling staged.
Back at the Tavern, the mood lifted another level. Big windows, long tables, proper pub atmosphere. This is where the day fully exhaled.
The speeches were genuinely hilarious - the kind where you’re trying to keep the camera steady while laughing - and the cake cutting was equally chaotic in the best possible way.
Two completely different locations. One consistent energy.

Planning a Multi-Location Wedding Day
If you’re considering a ceremony at Islington Town Hall followed by a reception elsewhere in London, the key is timing. Build in realistic travel space, allow 10–15 minutes after the ceremony for confetti and hugs, and keep portraits efficient so you don’t disappear for half an hour.
Done properly, it never feels rushed - it just feels like a natural progression from ceremony to celebration.
