Greenwich Wedding Photographer

Greenwich weddings, captured naturally - no fuss, no awkward posing, just the real moments.

If you’re planning a wedding in Greenwich and want a photographer who knows the area (and how to sidestep tourists wielding lenses the size of telescopes), you’re in the right place.

I photograph a lot of weddings in Greenwich because, honestly, it’s one of the best-looking corners of London. Grand architecture, riverside light, cobbled streets, boats drifting past, and those iconic steps at the Old Royal Naval College - it’s all right there. Whether you’re having a small, intimate ceremony or a full-scale celebration, Greenwich gives you variety without needing a taxi.

As a London wedding photographer, my approach is simple: keep it relaxed, keep it real, and don’t turn your day into a photoshoot.

Why Get Married in Greenwich?

Greenwich works because it gives you options.

Within minutes, you’ve got:

  • Historic architecture with proper presence

  • Open parkland and skyline views

  • The sweep of the River Thames

  • Cosy pubs and candlelit interiors

  • Quiet cobbled side streets near the market

It’s romantic without trying too hard. Elegant without feeling stiff.

And if the weather behaves at golden hour along the river, or up in Greenwich Park overlooking the city? You’re winning.

You’ve also got landmarks like the Cutty Sark and the colonnades around the Naval College that give you strong, clean backdrops without needing elaborate staging.

Greenwich does a lot of the work for you. My job is to use it well without making it feel staged.

Popular Greenwich Wedding Venues

Greenwich has some seriously good venues. A few favourites include:

Old Royal Naval College
Queen's House
The Trafalgar Tavern – see my Trafalgar Tavern Wedding Photographer guide here.
Ranger's House
The Admiral Hardy
The Painted Hall
Greenwich Yacht Club

I’ve photographed real weddings at The Trafalgar Tavern and The Admiral Hardy, and they couldn’t have felt more different. Same postcode. Completely different energy.

That’s what I like about Greenwich. It doesn’t box you in.

You can go full historic grandeur.
Or riverside pub celebration.
Or something small and personal with a walk through the park afterwards.

Best Spots for Wedding Photos in Greenwich

If you’re getting married here, you’ve already won visually. But knowing how to use the area makes a difference.

Some of the best portrait spots include:

The Naval College Colonnades
Clean lines, symmetry, and shelter if it rains. They look impressive without overwhelming you.

Greenwich Park Viewpoint
That skyline view works brilliantly for relaxed couple portraits, especially later in the day.

Riverside Along the Thames
Soft light, open space, and that London backdrop without heavy traffic chaos.

Near the Cutty Sark & Market Streets
Cobblestones, texture, and a bit more movement in the background if you want energy.

The key isn’t dragging you around to tick off landmarks. It’s choosing one or two spots that suit your vibe and keeping it quick so you can get back to your guests.

What Greenwich Weddings Look Like Through My Lens

As a Greenwich wedding photographer, I’m not there to manufacture moments.

You won’t get:

  • Endless posing

  • Being told to “laugh at nothing”

  • Being marched around for an hour while your drinks reception happens without you

You will get:

  • The nerves before you walk in

  • The squeeze of a hand mid-ceremony

  • The slightly chaotic confetti throw

  • Your mates absolutely losing it on the dance floor

If you want a couple of relaxed portraits, we’ll grab them efficiently. Ten minutes. Maybe fifteen. Then you’re back with your people.

Greenwich suits documentary wedding photography because it has movement and atmosphere built in. Tourists, boats, passing light, changing skies - it all adds life to the images.

My Approach as a Greenwich Wedding Photographer

Greenwich can get busy. That’s part of the charm - and part of the challenge.

Because I know the area, I know:

  • When certain areas are quieter

  • Where the light works best at different times of day

  • How to use the architecture without it swallowing you

  • How to work quickly so you’re not stuck posing while tourists clap

The goal is always the same: make it feel effortless.

You shouldn’t feel like you’re on a production set. You should feel like you’re having your wedding.
