I've photographed multiple weddings at Islington Town Hall, from intimate ceremonies with close family to larger celebrations followed by drinks, dinner and a proper party.
The day moves quickly here. The ceremony, confetti, group photographs and portraits all need to fit around a relatively short window, and before you know it, you're heading off to celebrate.
That's why I keep the photography relaxed and practical. I'll make sure you get the important photographs without turning the time between your ceremony and reception into a full-blown photoshoot.

Documentary wedding photography at Islington Town Hall
My approach is simple: photograph what's actually happening.
No over-directing. No choreographed laughter. No dragging you away from your guests for an endless series of portraits.
I'll give you some direction when it's useful, particularly for group photographs and a few portraits together. The rest of the time, I'll let the day unfold and concentrate on capturing it as it happens.
The nerves before the ceremony. The reactions when you walk back out together. The confetti, the hugs, the laughter and the little moments you might not even notice at the time.
You get photographs of the important things without feeling as though you're spending your wedding performing for the camera.

Once the ceremony is over, everything happens quickly. Guests gather outside, confetti comes out, everyone wants to congratulate you, and before long it's time to head to the reception.
I'll help organise the essential group photographs and make the most of the time available, without turning the steps into a military operation.
After that, we can take a short walk for a few relaxed portraits together. There's no need to disappear for an hour or trek across London. A handful of well-chosen spots is usually more than enough.

How much time should we allow for photographs?
It depends on your plans and how many group photographs you'd like. We'll work out a realistic schedule so you can get the photographs that matter without feeling rushed.
