The Last Day of the Year - And a Lot of Very Good Weddings

A look back at this year’s weddings and a quiet thank you to every couple who trusted me with their day.

There’s something about the last day of the year that makes you stop for a minute.
No emails. No timelines. No camera in your hand.
Just a quiet moment to look back and think:
Blimey… that was a year.

And for me, that mostly means one thing... weddings.

Lots of them.
All different.
All brilliant in their own way.

This year I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings in busy cities, quiet countryside spots, grand venues, cosy pubs, barns, hotels, back gardens, and places I’d never even heard of until the sat nav had a meltdown trying to find them. I’ve seen big guest lists, tiny guest lists, and everything in between. I’ve stood in the rain, the wind, the blazing sun, and that strange British “all four seasons in ten minutes” situation.

And every single one of them mattered.

It’s Always About the People

What sticks with me most at the end of a year like this isn’t the venues or the timelines or the logistics.
It’s the people.

The nervous energy just before the ceremony.
That look when two people see each other properly for the first time that day.
The hugs that last a bit longer than expected.
The speeches that start calm and end… not so calm.
The dance floor chaos once everyone forgets what time it is.

Those moments are why I do this.

No stiff posing.
No forced smiles.
Just real people having one of the biggest days of their lives — and trusting me to quietly document it.

That’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.

To Every Couple I Worked With This Year

If you booked me, chatted with me, emailed me, laughed with me, fed me, introduced me to your families, or trusted me to capture your day — thank you.

Thank you for letting me into something so personal.
Thank you for being yourselves in front of my camera.
Thank you for not asking me to make you jump in a field (unless you actually wanted to, in which case… fair enough).

Your weddings kept me busy, inspired, motivated, and very grateful.

And yes - I still remember the names of your dogs.

A Small Pause Before The Next Chapter

Tomorrow it’s a new year.
New enquiries.
New couples.
New stories.

But today is just about appreciation.

For the work.
For the people.
For the chance to keep doing something I genuinely care about.

If you’re reading this as one of my couples - I hope married life is treating you well.
If you’re reading this as someone planning their wedding - I can’t wait to hear your story too.

Here’s to another year of good people, good moments, and photography that actually feels like the day.

See you in the new year.
