Bury St Edmunds Wedding | Tom & Jade
A Bury St Edmunds registry office wedding with Abbey Gardens portraits, pizza, a bouncy castle and live rock ’n’ roll in Suffolk.

A Simple Start at Bury St Edmunds Registry Office
Tom & Jade’s Bury St Edmunds wedding started simply — a ceremony at Bury St Edmunds Registry Office surrounded by their closest family and friends.
No drama. No overcomplication. Just the two of them standing in front of their people and getting married.
There’s something solid about a registry office wedding. It gets straight to the point. A few nerves before the walk in. A quiet shift in the room when the vows begin. Then the relief and grins as they walk back down the aisle married.
If you’re planning a Bury St Edmunds registry office wedding, it’s a brilliant option for something intimate and unfussy.

Abbey Gardens Wedding Photos
After the ceremony, we stepped outside into the Suffolk sunshine and headed to Abbey Gardens - one of the best photo locations in Bury St Edmunds.
Open space. Historic ruins. Good light.
Nothing forced. Just time for it to sink in.
Abbey Gardens works perfectly for relaxed wedding portraits after a registry office ceremony because it’s only a short walk away and gives you variety without travelling.

From Bury St Edmunds to Risby
Once the formalities were done, everyone made their way to Risby Village Hall just outside Bury St Edmunds - and this is where the tone shifted.
Inside?
An indoor bouncy castle.
Kids loved it. Adults pretended they didn’t want a go, then absolutely did.
Outside, a pizza van took over catering duties. Fresh slices, zero formality, guests chatting while they queued. It worked brilliantly. No long buffet tables. No awkward seating plan stress. Just people eating, talking and getting on with enjoying themselves.
This is why smaller Suffolk weddings can be so good - you get to build it your way.

Rock ’n’ Roll & A Full Dance Floor
Speeches rolled into music, and then Tom casually revealed he’s got a hidden rock-star streak.
Guitar out. Friends joining in. Classic hits echoing around a village hall in Suffolk.
The dance floor didn’t empty. It didn’t need to.
From rock anthems to slower tracks later in the evening, it felt like a proper celebration - the kind where no one’s checking their watch.
This Bury St Edmunds wedding had everything it needed:
• A straightforward ceremony
• Great light
• A bouncy castle
• Pizza
• Live music
You don’t need much more than that.

My Approach to a Bury St Edmunds Wedding
When I photograph a wedding in Bury St Edmunds, I don’t turn it into a styled shoot.
I work with what’s there.
The glance before the vows.
The slightly chaotic confetti moment.
The unexpected guitar solo at 8pm.
I won’t over-direct. I won’t make you perform.
I’ll document it properly - so when you look back, it feels like your day, not something staged.
