Chelsea Old Town Hall

Chelsea Old Town Hall is one of London’s most iconic and photogenic wedding venues, sitting proudly on King’s Road in Chelsea. This Grade II listed late Victorian building* has been beautifully restored and combines grand historic architecture with a flexible event space that works brilliantly for civil ceremonies and receptions alike. It’s home to the Kensington and Chelsea Register Office, where thousands of couples - from intimate pairs to larger guest lists - have chosen to marry over the years.

Inside you’ll find a range of licensed wedding spaces, from intimate registry rooms like the Harrington, Rossetti and Brydon Rooms to larger, elegant halls such as the Small Hall and the expansive Main Hall. Whether you’re planning a smaller, personal ceremony or a bigger celebration with dinner and dancing afterwards, Chelsea Old Town Hall offers variety without ever losing that London-classic backdrop.

Useful things to know when booking a wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall

Historic, landmark venue
Chelsea Old Town Hall’s classic architecture - granite columns, ornate ceilings and grand corridors - gives your wedding photos a sense of place and timeless character.

Multiple licensed rooms
You can choose from several ceremony spaces:

  • Harrington Room – very intimate, up to around 8 guests.

  • Rossetti Room – small, often up to around 12 guests.

  • Brydon Room – a larger registry room for up to around 38 guests.

  • Small Hall – light, elegant and ideal for weddings up to around 140.

  • Main Hall – grand and flexible, seating up to around 340 for ceremonies.

Great light for photography
Rooms like the Small Hall and Brydon Room are bright and airy, which makes capturing natural photos without heavy artificial lighting much easier.

Ceremony + reception possibilities
Unlike some registry offices that are purely about the legal ceremony, Chelsea Old Town Hall lets you stay in the same venue for your reception - from smaller drinks celebrations to larger dinners in the Main Hall.

Confetti moments
You can use the steps outside for confetti and group shots right after your ceremony, which is great for keeping your photography timeline flowing.

Central London location
Positioned on King’s Road and close to Sloane Square and South Kensington tube stations, it’s easy for guests to arrive and gives you plenty of classic London backdrops close by for portraits.

Ceremony bookings and notice
You’ll need to book your registrars via Kensington and Chelsea Register Office and give legal notice ahead of time - ideally at least 29 days before your ceremony date.
