Jenny & Alfie got hitched at the gorgeous Ravenbridge Mill in Cumbria – think countryside vibes, old brick charm, and a whole lot of happy tears. From the moment they said “I do,” it was clear this was going to be a day full of genuine smiles, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughter.

It was the kind of day where you laugh so much your cheeks ache, and almost everyone ended up on the tent dance floor before dessert. Whether it was the hilarious speeches, impromptu dance-offs, or those quiet moments between the chaos, Jenny and Alfie’s wedding had the perfect mix of love, laughter, and a little bit of joyful chaos.

These two brought the love, the chaos (the good kind), and a cracking bunch of guests who knew exactly how to celebrate. Ravenbridge Mill provided the perfect backdrop, with its rustic charm, spacious grounds, and warm, welcoming staff who made the day run smoothly from start to finish.

The day in five words

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the gardens at Ravenbridge Mill, with the Cumbrian countryside providing a beautiful backdrop. It felt relaxed from the very beginning... plenty of laughter, a few happy tears and the kind of atmosphere where everyone was completely invested in the moment.

No grand production. Just Jenny and Alfie surrounded by the people who mattered most.

Confetti & Celebrations

Moments after the ceremony, everyone gathered for one of the liveliest confetti throws I've photographed. Hugs, cheers and handfuls of confetti flying in every direction... exactly the kind of joyful chaos I love capturing.

With no rush to move on, guests stayed outside chatting, laughing and soaking up the atmosphere before the celebrations continued.

A walk around the lake

Rather than disappearing for an hour of portraits (although we did grab some time together), the whole wedding party wandered around the lake together. It never felt like a photoshoot... more like an afternoon walk with family and friends enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Jenny and Alfie even climbed aboard a small boat for a quiet trip across the water, giving us a few relaxed portraits that felt completely natural and perfectly suited to the setting.

Under the marquee

As the evening drew in, everyone gathered inside the huge marquee for dinner, speeches and a party that didn't take long to get going. The speeches were full of laughter, the food kept everyone happy, and once the music started, the dance floor stayed busy for the rest of the night.

It was one of those weddings where nobody seemed in a hurry to leave... always a good sign.

This is exactly why I love documentary photography.

Nobody was asked to stand a certain way. Nobody was told to smile. They were simply enjoying themselves, being daft together and making each other laugh.

Years from now, I suspect this photograph will bring back far more memories than a perfectly organised family portrait.
